There is no emotion, there is peace,
There is no ignorance, there is knowledge,
There is no passion, there is serenity,
There is no chaos, there is harmony,
There is no death, there is the Force.
The Sith Order is a source of constant debate amongst the Jedi Order, they stand for all the things that a Jedi should not be: emotional, ignorant, passionate, chaotic and deadly. I admit, some characteristics on the list seem to be perfectly acceptable traits for a Jedi; emotional and passionate being the most obvious, however I disagree. A Jedi’s chief interest should be in the pursuit of justice to maintain peace, to achieve this; a Jedi needs to act with reason. The courts and justice systems of various planets and star systems are prone to biasing their verdict of a crime based on the violent nature of the said crime. The true evidence can only be obtained if the investigator is thinking with a clear head, and understands that upset for the victim, or hatred for the offender will only cloud judgement and lead to an unfair trial. Imagine, for example, on an investigation into a crime you find evidence that completely contradicts all that you’ve discovered so far, it proves that the chief suspect you had, and did all of your investigating into, is completely innocent. I’m certain that many would be tempted to destroy the evidence and continue accusing the chief suspect using the excuse ‘He could have done it’ or ‘He was bound to commit a crime in future, we are doing people a service by passing justice on him.’ Its logical thinking and it’s the way that the psyche of most species in the Galaxy tend to work, however, this way of thinking is wrong.
The truth and justice and equality must always be sought despite the consequences and this is the problem I have with the way many Jedi view the Sith Order. Many Jedi believe that those in the Sith Order are truly beyond redemption, they have fallen too far along a dark path and the best thing to do in a battle with them is to end them as soon as possible, they come to the conclusion that by ending the life of a Sith, they can prevent all the atrocities he will no doubt commit in the future. Again, this is logical for an intelligent psyche, however, it is my firm belief that if any Jedi, no matter the reason, kill a Sith (In combat or otherwise), they should lay down their status as a Jedi and be banished from the Order. What they have done isn’t Justice, it’s not merciful, it doesn’t fulfil any section of the Jedi code, what they have effectively done in killing that Sith is go against every line in the Jedi code, betrayed every Jedi in the Order and become more of a Sith than the man or woman whom they just killed. Peace on a galactic scale seems impossible now, but there is always hope. How can we expect the Sith Empire to relinquish this war if we don’t have the decency to do the right thing, in the sake of Justice and show them the mercy that every sentient deserves?
Any Jedi that murders a Sith for sport or otherwise, is in my opinion a traitor. Likewise, any Jedi that is killed attempting to take a Sith alive rather than kill them, is far more of a hero than any heroes of the Republic who have been granted false medals and honours to suit their over-inflated egos. A war has begun anew between the Republic and the Sith Empire. It is my belief that if a single member of the Sith Order is killed during the duration of this war, then the Sith Empire has won. They have proven the fact that every last sentient being in the Galaxy has a natural instinct for bloodshed, and since numerous Sith have already been killed, they have already won.
Peace is a lie, there is only Passion,
Through Passion I gain Strength,
Through Strength I gain Power,
Through Power I gain Victory,
Through Victory my chains are broken,
The Force shall free me.
